Christmas Cards
Every year, despite all my efforts to be ahead of the game, I'm still getting Christmas cards together up until the last minute (last minute being Christmas itself). This year, I thought I'd go ahead and get my address labels ready in October, but then I thought it was just ridiculous to start so early so I waited and here I am, scrambling to get my act together.
Plus, we didn't order enough cards this year. We had 60 people to send cards to, but I could only buy them in bulks of 25. I didn't want so many left over (besides, they were expensive) so I now have to decide who gets the generic cards instead of the cute picture cards we made. It's like cutting people from your guest list. Is A a better friend that B. C'mon, would C really appreciate the cute pics of the girls, as opposed to D, even though D isn't such a great friend?
On another note, I LOVE receiving cards, but we haven't gotten so many this year. Does this mean everyone is running late, or are we not as popular anymore? And what about those people who have only sent us a card after they received ours?

I haven't received any cards this year, which is unusual. maybe it's the unseasonably warm weather we've had here in the city. then again, i avoid the complications of religion and always send "happy new year" cards -- to people who send a card to me first. mostly because i am lazy. but secondly because it's pretty easy to find out what i'm up to these days :)
Oh my, I seriously could have written this post myself. I know just what you mean about the generic Christmas cards and having to decide who gets the good ones, like they are going to know they are'nt "good ones" anyway. And everyday I run out to the mailbox (yes sad but really so true) and eagerly look through my pile of mail for a Christmas card, and this year they are few and far between so far. I'm holding out hope for the rest of this week though, maybe they will all come in one day.
Oh, man. The Card Guilt.
I have it because I DON'T SEND THEM. I suck at stuff like that. All my friends do it and I am buried in guilt all season long.
I decided that this year I must must must start, but MAN I DON'T WANT TO.
So, feel good that you are leaps and bounds ahead of at least one person. Sigh.
Oops. I meant NEXT YEAR I must start.
